去年12月台灣就發了
光看「Good Rockin' Tonight」的標題還搞不清楚這是張什麼樣的專輯，副標題
「The Legacy Of Sun Records」即明白指出其宗旨。話說1950年由錄音工程師
兼DJ的Sam Phillips在曼菲斯當地設立了一間錄音室，初期許多黑人藍調歌手
如Bobby Bland、Howlin' Wolf…都曾在此灌錄過歌曲，1952年將它發展成唱片
廠牌，也就是Sun Records，它之所以在搖滾樂發展上佔有一席之地乃是因為1953
年的夏天一位年輕人進來錄了幾首歌曲，後來Sun Records發行他的五張單曲唱片，
沒想到這位年輕人不久後大紅大紫席捲歌壇，而「他」就是「貓王」艾維斯．普里斯萊。
接著搖滾樂發展初期的幾位巨星Carl Perkins、Jerry Lee Lewis、Roy Orbison以及
Johnny Cash也都隸屬Sun Records，令這個廠牌成為孕育搖滾樂的搖籃。
參與「Good Rockin' Tonight」計劃的歌手都是樂壇上的上上之選，代表了Sun Records
的歌曲版權著實是搖滾樂文化最珍貴的遺產。首先是披頭四中唯一還活躍於歌壇的
保羅．麥卡尼重唱貓王的首支單曲That's All Right；在這張致敬專輯中欣見搖滾
樂三大吉他手Jeff Beck、Jimmy Page、Eric Clapton齊聚一堂，他們搭配的主唱
分別是Chrissie Hynde（偽裝者合唱團的女主唱）；Page還是齊柏林飛船合唱團的
老搭檔Robert Plant；Eric Clapton選擇了五○年代就成名的節奏藍調團The
Impressions。艾爾頓．強挑了Jerry Lee Lewis的招牌歌Whole Lotta Shakin' Going
On，唱起來還真是傳神，或許因為這兩位都喜歡在彈鋼琴時作怪的關係吧。
Carl Perkins不服老，找來另一位老將Van Morrison再次演唱Sitting On Top Of The
World。Roxy Music主唱Bryan Ferry在未成為藝術搖滾之前可把貓王當作偶像，
服裝、扮相、唱腔刻意模仿，不信？聽聽Don't Be Cruel。其他像民謠搖滾之父
巴布．狄倫、Tom Petty亦在名單之列。除上述知名樂壇前輩，新生代的雪瑞兒．可洛、
Kid Rock、Live，因與山塔納合作Smooth名噪一時的Rob Thomas所帶領Matchbox Twenty、
號稱Bryan Ferry接班人的Chris Isaak都前來共相盛舉，讓這張「Good Rockin'
Tonight」熱鬧非凡。
