Lilith Fair almost included men
(Launch) - Without the helping hands of Emmylou Harris, the
all-female Lilith Fair tour may well have become co-ed. According to
The Dallas Morning News, founder Sarah McLachlan had caught so much
flack a couple of years ago from the press that she almost opened the
female tour up to males. Harris apparently played her conscience and
told her, "You know, this might not be my place to say anything, but
you started something amazing. Why not let it come to fruition?"
After careful deliberation, McLachlan decided to let the tour - now
in its third and final year - remain a women-only affair (although
many of the backing bands include men).
