Lilith spirit will live on By Rick Bird, Post music writer The Lilith Fair spirit of showcasing women artists will live on even when the plug gets pulled on the festival. That was the assessment of Lilith performers at a preconcert news conference. Founder Sarah McLachlan repeated her desire to end the festival so she can take some time off. As for future Liliths, she said, ''I don't want to close the door on it. There's a good possibility we'll bring it back in a couple years, or five or ten years.'' Sheryl Crow expects the concept to be brought back by promoters next summer, even if it's not called Lilith. ''The great thing about this tour is it has a very concise vision and makes a powerful statement,'' she said. ''And because of it there will be others that will try to capitalize and capture the specialness of the tour. There will be others that will be great.'' Ms. McLachlan said she will not sell the Lilith name to a promoter if she's not actively involved. Before the concert, Ms. McLachlan presented $11,300 to Women Helping Women as part of the $1-a-ticket charitable contribution the festival makes in every city. It's expected that figure will be slightly higher when final receipts are tallied. -- gender is just an excuse, relationship shouldn't just be an excuse, love is often an excuse, although sometimes these excuses are all we have to hold onto, death is the reason and living is the celebration - Beth Orton -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.twbbs.org) ◆ From: 192.192.50.105
