for this case, i assume and i believe he faced a fastball from outside. look
carefully the pic of #7 that his bat hit the ball. the location
of the ball making contact was beyond his front foot. the right
contacting point for hitting a ball outside (no matter fastball
or off-speed balls) is between hitter's two leg, at least not
beyond his front leg. i believe every single baseball player who
has accepted some bseball training knows this.
that's the best
indicator for this case that he swung early.
secondly, basic hitting rules for a right hand hitter.
in a case of the perfect timing of hitting ball,
when he hits the ball, his body should face
right field, center field and left filed and the ball
has to go to the right field,center field,left field when
facing balls from outside, middle and insdie respectively.
in pic of #4, his body was facing the right field but
the ball was still far beyond. and after that, his bat speed
had to slow down in order to just make contact of the ball to
prevent a missing swing. in this case, he early swung at
a ball outside and made the ball that should go to the right
field went to the center filed. but the writer still claimed
the timing was right, that's why i challenge his baseball
knowledge and that analysis.
