Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier is rumoured to be lining up a £3 million
move for Montpellier's nineteen year old Cameroon international midfielder
Valery Mezague.
The Liverpool boss is known to have watched Mazegue on numerous occasions
this season and is looking to snatch the tough tackling midfielder from under
the noses of french champions Olympique Lyonnais who are also targeting the
player.
Mezague was discovered by former Cameroon legend Roger Miller at an early age
and is considered an exceptional all-round talent. The midfield powerhouse
finished top scorer for Monpellier this season with six goals in twenty four
starts and could provide valuble goals from midfield that the mersyside club
have been seeking.
Speaking to french paper L'Equipe Mezague indicated his ambitions "I know of
both Liverpool and Lyon's interest in me and it is flattering, I am only
nineteen and it my be too early for a big move at this stage but when a club
such as liverpool desire you you have to go."
The Cameroon international has dual french nationality and so would not
require a work permit.
