Lin was smiling afterward, telling me in a combination of English and
translated Chinese that he was looking for a pitch he could handle.
"That was fun," he said in English.
Every scout I talked to about Lin said roughly the same thing: Great
glove, we're not sure about the bat. But he is 3 for 9 counting the BC
game and seems to square up everything. I can remember at least three
outs on line drives.
Yes, a ridiculously small sample size and who knows what happens when
scouting reports detail his weaknesses. But he's not another Rey
Ordonez.
