Cleveland Indians left-hander Cliff Lee, who went 5-0 with a 1.86 ERA last
month, has been named the American League Pitcher of the Month for August
2008. This marks Lee's second A.L. Pitcher of the Month honor of the 2008
season; he also won in April, when he went 5-0 with a 0.96 ERA.

become a 20-game winner. Lee is just the seventh pitcher since 1920 to win 20
of his first 22 decisions.

September in 1996.

Month for August

has been voted National League Pitcher of the Month.

Sabathia led the N.L. in ERA and innings pitched with 48.1, was tied with
teammate Jeff Suppan for the league-lead with five victories and tied for
