The Players: Houston's GM Bill Wood(The Fleecer)and Boston's GM Lou Gorman(The
Fleecee).
The Fleece: The Boston Red Sox acquire relief pitcher Larry Andersen from the
Houston Astros for 3rd base prospect Jeff Bagwell.
Larry Andersen: 在紅襪待到該年球季結束，表現十分出色(22IP, 25K, 1.23ERA)。紅襪
拿下美聯東區冠軍，在美聯冠軍戰直落四遭運動家掃地出門。球季結束
後Andersen成為FA，被教士簽走。
Jeff Bagwell: 最有資格獲選為HOF的一壘手之一，生涯15年都效力太空人，隊史全壘打
(449)、打點(1529)以及保送(1401)的保持者。

The Fleece: Los Angeles Dodgers sign free agent Darren Dreifort to a five-year,
$55M contract
史上最大的詐欺之一，Scott Boras的最著名的搶劫之一，Dreifort在道奇的五年留下了
9-13, 4.53 ERA, 1.39 WHIP in 86 games, 205.1 IP
2002年、2005年整年報銷，平均一勝代價超過6M！

The Players: Colorado General Manager Dan O'Dowd(the fleecee)and Mike Hampton
and his agent Mark Rodgers(the fleecers).
The Fleece: The Colorado Rockies signed 28 year old pitcher Mike Hampton to
an eight-year, $123.8M contract which, at the time, was the largest
contract in baseball.
Hampton在山上的兩年繳出災難般的21-28, 5.75。喔，O'Dowd在當時表示，比Hampton在
簽約前，生涯在山上平均的6.88ERA要來的低了 lOl。短暫過水馬林魚之後，Hampton隨即
被交易到勇士，2005年投了1/3的球季，接下來兩年成績欄一片空白。

January 16, 2002
The Players: Rangers owner Tom Hicks and GM Jon Hart(The fleecees), and right
handed pitcher Chan Ho Park and his agent, none other than Captain
Fleece, Scott Boras(the fleecers).
The Fleece: The Texas Rangers signed Park to a 5 year, $65M deal.
Miserable。朴贊浩在阿靈頓只待了三年半，2003年及2004年合計先發23場，三年半下來
的ERA/WHIP分別是5.75/1.59, 7.58/1.99, 5.46/1.44, 5.66/1.68，跟德州
的大小有的比！2005年的夏天靠著將他交易到教士去換來Phil Nevin，才結
束了遊騎兵的惡夢。五年下來，朴贊浩總共贏了33場球，一場接近2M的代價
。

從2004到2006年，Victor Zambrano只替大都會出賽了39場，10-14, 4.45。Scott Kazmir
，當今最好的年輕投手之一，在找到控球的時候，活生生是台三振機器。大都會前GM Jim
Duquette任內最偉大的交易。

The Fleece: To strengthen their pennant chances, the Detroit Tigers acquired
pitcher Doyle Alexander from the Atlanta Braves for right handed
pitching prospect John Smoltz.
Alexander在11場先發當中繳出了9-0, 1.53，幫助老虎拿下分區冠軍，但在美聯冠軍戰被
雙城給灌爆，9局丟了10分，吞下兩敗，目送雙城拿下世界大賽冠軍。再多投了兩年低於
平均的球季後，高掛球鞋。
Smoltz，職業生涯至今都待在勇士，史上唯一200勝、150救援、季後賽勝投王、未來HOF
候選人之一。

Trade: The New York Yankees acquire right fielder Paul O'Neill and minor
leaguer Joe DeBerry from the Cincinnati Reds for LF Roberto Kelly
O'Neill成為洋基球迷的最愛，同時是90年代洋基王朝的靈魂人物，94年美聯打擊王、五
度入選明星賽。
Kelly成為浪跡天涯的工具人，從那年以後單季從未超過409個打數。

Trade: GM of the New York Mets, Bob Scheffing, traded SP Nolan Ryan, P Don Rose
, C Francisco Estrada, and OF Leroy Stanton to the California Angels for
SS Jim Fregosi.
順應不想待在大都會的Ryan，Scheffing將他交易到天使。Fregosi在大都會只待了兩個球
季，146G, 5HR, 43RBI, .233。Ryan，嗯，5714跟7這兩個數字的涵義應該有不少人知道
。附帶一提，7所代表的意義，在大都會史上還沒發生過。

Terry Ryan(the fleecer)
The Fleece: Looking to fill a void behind the plate, the San Francisco Giants
send Joe Nathan, Boof Bonser and Francisco Liriano to the Minnesota
Twins for A.J. Pierzynski.
Brian Sabean任內最偉大的交易之一，在現在會有誰把像當年繳出12-4, 2.96ERA的Nathan
給交易出去？AJP只在老人隊打了一年就被釋出，之後成為全民公敵。Nathan成為當今最
好的終結者之一，Bonser是個堪用的投手，Liriano順利復原的話…

December 21, 1998
The Players: Orioles owner Peter Angelos and GM Frank Wren(The Fleecees), and
slugger Albert Belle and his agent, Arn Tellem(The Fleecers).
The Fleece: Albert Belle signs a 5-year, $65 million deal with the Baltimore
Orioles making him the highest paid player in the league. The
signing comes a few months after Belle opted out of his 5-year,
$55M deal with the White Sox signed in 1996. In that deal, Belle
exercised a clause that allowed him to opt out once he was no
longer among the top 3 highest paid players in the league.
Belle在1999年繳出.297/.400/.541, 37HR, 117RBI，在前一年有著最高payroll的金鶯，
在那一年繼續在美東當老四。2000年繳出.281/.342/.474，出賽141場，金鶯繼續當老四
。之後由於嚴重的髖關節炎，讓Belle連要坐下都不可能，黯然宣布退休，也喪失了挑戰
眾多紀錄的機會。

December 13th, 1999
馬林魚利用規則五選秀從太空人那選來Johan Santana，當時的太空人GM Gerry Hunsicker
選擇不保護山大王。最後太空人在該年的五號先發分別是Jose Lima(6.65ERA)、Chris
Holt(5.35ERA)、Brian Powell(5.74ERA)、Marc Valdes(5.08ERA)以及Jose Cabrera
(5.92 ERA)…實際上太空人只需要將山大王放進40人名單…
馬林魚當年真正想要的是Jared Camp，GM Dave Dombrowski跟雙城GM Terry Ryan作了協
議，當年規則五選秀第一順位的雙城選走Camp，第二順位的馬林魚則挑選任何一個雙城想
要的球員，之後兩隊互換，馬林魚給了雙城50K，充當雙城從太空人處選走山大王所需支
付的費用，雙城要求馬林魚挑選山大王。
Jared Camp從未在大聯盟投過球，山大王…嗯，地表最好的投手之一，只能說當時太空人
跟馬林魚都賭錯了。
