Waits will see his work interpreted by
a slew of artists on the upcoming New
Coat of Paint: The Songs of Tom
Waits.
Due May 30 on Manifesto Records,
New Coat of Paint features former
Stray Cat Lee Rocker ("New Coat of
Paint"), bluesman Floyd Dixon ("Blue
Skies"), rock experimentalist Lydia
Lunch ("Heart Attack and Vine"), Flat Duo Jets' Dexter
Romweber ("Romeo is Bleeding"), Screamin' Jay Hawkins
("Whistlin' Past the Graveyard"), and country crooners the
Blacks ("Poncho's Lament"), among others.
