Appeal Intended For Scholes FA Charge

Sir Alex Ferguson says an appeal will be lodged after Paul Scholes was
found guilty of violent behaviour towards an opponent by the Football
Association on Friday.
Scholes was charged following his altercation with Middlesbrough
midfielder Doriva during United's 3-2 defeat against Steve McClaren's
men on February 11.
However, the United boss, speaking on BBC Sport website, says an appeal
is intended.
"We can appeal and we will," said an adamant Ferguson on Friday.
Paul Scholes," This time of season is the most important. We need to go
through the rest of the season unbeaten."
"The referee was only five or six yards away. He said he didn't see it.
It was something and nothing really," added the United manager.
A statement detailing the charge on the FA's website reads:
"The FA has charged Manchester United's Paul Scholes with violent
behaviour towards an opponent (breach of FA Rule E2) for an incident
involving Middlesbrough's Doriva during the match at Old Trafford on
11 February 2004. He has until 5th March to respond."
Report by Ben Hibbs and Steve Bartram.
