The Arsenal players yesterday were a disgrace. I'm not a United fan but i was appalled to see the way they reacted to van Nistelrooy's penalty miss. After all, what had he done? Vieira got himself sent off, simple as that. He lost it in the heat of the battle, kicked out stupidly and got shown the red card. Van Nistelrooy didn't go down, he was just getting out of the way. Wenger goes on about his players being victimised but if they're capable of behaving like that it's no wonder they are always in
trouble. And as for Wenger accusing van Nistelrooy of being a cheat, well he's clearly has a short memory after Pires' blatant dive last week.
Jim Anderton, London
I think the FA should take a common-sense view and overturn Veira's red card. Speaking as a Man Utd fan these games between the two clubs are always going to be heated. Once that choice was taken by the ref the rest of the game turned into a disgrace of both attitude and behaviour of so-called pros. Martin Keown did not help at all with his childish behaviour at the end.
Sean Gleeson, cobham
I am a lifelong Arsenal fan and I am disgraced by my teams behavior after the game. There have been times in the past when the FA have unfairly punished our players but this time they deserve everything they get. They were totally un-professional. Credit to van Nistelrooy for not retaliating. Arsene must learn to control his players.
Johnny, Belfast
Van Nistelroy got booked for his challenge on Viera. Vieira got sent off for his reaction. Dealt with on the pitch, so end of story. The pack attack on Van Nistelroy by several Arsenal players following the final whistle needs sorting out. As usual, Wenger refuses to accept that any of his players were at fault. There has to be a serious case not only for individual disciplinary action against Arsenal players, but for the club being penalised with a points deduction.
Loz Jones, Spain
The scenes that followed the final whistle were an absolute disgrace and Arsenal cannot escape unpunished. I watched the game with my six-year-old son and had to try and explain why his hero was being pushed about by what can only be described as a bunch of yobs - I am disgusted by it.
Philip Sansom, Whitton
I sat and watched the game with my two young boys and my friend's children. The scenes at the end of the game were discusting and has left me in two minds as to watch such violence again. Keown and the rest of the Arsenal players involved should be repremanded. Van Nistelrooy was booked for his original challenge so was punsished. And the ref gave the penalty, not Forlan.
Craig Ince, Ewell, Surrey
Ruud's reaction to the flick of Viera's leg was exagerated but going on recent showings the same situation reversed may have seen an Arsenal player going to ground faking injury! The scenes at the final whistle are a disgrace to English football and indivisual players should be held accountable rather than the football clubs with match bans and wage fines.
David Goodfellow, Bristol
I am an Arsenal Supporter, but I was dissapointed by the attitude of our players at the end of the match. We need to sort out this dicipline problem as it will drag us down. The nation was watching the game it did show our team in a very good light, It is very honourable for the manager to support our players, but he made himself look silly by seemingly supporting their antics. Dissapointed Arsenal Fan
Durant Shaw, London
Arsene is going blind just like the FA will be. Trying to blame van Nistlerooy to cloud the issue. I bet you they will get away with it as they always do. They're a disgrace.
Mark Cullen, Dublin
I watched the game yesterday, and ive seen the comments from papers and websites alike. Is there some national propaganda against Arsenal going on? Even on one of your own pages you mention an arial battle in which Viera came off worse and then lashed out (not mentioning Ruuds first kick-out and connected attempt on Viera). For shame on you sky sports. The scenes that followed were purely out of frustration towards the lack of unbiased opinion, and once again the team from North London are targetted for
abuse..

Arsenal & Arsene Wenger are a disgrace to football. Fines won’t work only points deduction are acceptable and a long ban for the players involved, in particular Martin Keown.
Paul Burke, Hamburg
Firstly I am an Arsenal fan and can not condone the actions of my team at the end of the match. However when the stakes are so high, tension is high and when a player makes a deliberate attempt to get a fellow professional sent off, action should be taken. Why was Van Nistelrooy's boot and knee on Vierra's chest? The simple answer is that he knew he would get a reaction. What is even more amazing is that Ruud only got booked for dissent !! Steve Bennett should not have refereed the game as it is
apparent he wears red under his shirt!!
Mark Jacobs, Bedford
Fair enough, Ruud made a meal of the kicking incident BUT Vieria DID kick out and NOTHING can excuse Lauren, Parlour and Keown's actions post-match. The only punishment should be points deduction for Arsenal only. But then Wenger will just say they are being picked on again. It was disgraceful scenes and they should ALL be ashamed.
Alan, Edgware
The behaviour of both sides was disgusting. For two teams which claim to be the cream of England's footballing crop, they looked for all the world like 22 squabbling children. And the managers are hardly better - for Wenger to see scenes like that and then deny Arsenal did anything wrong is just plain disgusting. I hope the FA crack down on Arsenal at least, and show that despite their manager's vaccilations, accountability DOES exist and merely saying "I couldn't see the incident" doesn't protect his
side from being criticised or rightly punished. It's gone far enough, for Wenger at least. No more excuses, it's time for the FA to show that they have the guts to punish one of the top three sides for their blatant and repeated wrongdoings.
David Rimmer, Nottingham
First of all, I think Vieira should be punished for running after Ruud van Nistelrooy after the red card had been presented to him - he was obviously trying to punch/push someone! Secondly, I think the FA needs to hit Arsenal with a severe fine for what happened after the final whistle - instigated by mr. Keown. All of the Arsenal players think that RvN did what he could to get Vieira sent off, but I think Vieira did himself no favors when he kicked out at RvN! That was definently a yellow - if not red!
- card offense, and the sending off was just. RvN got a deserved yellow card for the challenge, but he did not do anything to get Vieira sent off! If you look closely at the replay, you will also see Jens Lehman brushing off the linesman, which also is an offense, and he should have been either cautioned or sent off for that!
Kim Johannesen, Copenhagen, Denmark
Once again Arsene Wenger's Arsenal have shown their distinct lack of discipline. United acted professionally throughout, it is the likes of Keown and Lehmann (striking the linesman) who need to be reprimanded. Wenger is out of his depth claiming that Ruud is a cheat when it was his own side seen to be kicking at players. Ruud did not over-react at all! I hope Arsenal finally get what's coming to them!
Olie, London
Palour,Keown & Lauren are a disgrace to football the way they reacted at the end of the game... these so-called professionals are role models for young kids up and down the country. I can only praise van Nistelrooy for the way he handled it.
Phil, Brighton
I feel that Ruud Van Nistelrooy should be punished for his over-reactions. He is not a professional. He should be thought a lesson by the F.A. by slapping him with a few match ban or even a fine. Patrick Viera's red card should also be reversed & the Ref's decisions must also be reviewed. How does the F.A. put the same referee on to Ref. Tha same two team's......His decisions was parthetic......
Teggy Joseph, South Africa
The scenes at the end of the game were a disgrace. Van Nistelrooy was both verbally and physically abused by a large group of Arsenal players. If Van Nistelrooy had reacted it could have caused serious disturbances both on and off the pitch. How long will the FA let Arsenal get away scott free with this sort of behaviour? They should have at least 10 points deducted and Martin Keown, Lauren and Parlour should receive hefty bans for bringing the game into disrepute.
