Kenyon Rules Out Mass Purchases

Peter Kenyon says that while United will make purchases this summer, there
won't be wholesale changes to the team that won the Premiership in 2002/03.

The Reds have already been linked with ￡178 million-worth of talent in the
tabloids, but the Chief Executive insists he won't be spending anywhere near
that amount.

"There are funds available but when you look at our team, it is tweaking
rather than massive rebuild," Kenyon said on Thursday.

"I am sure we will start next season with some new faces and ultimately all
 I can assure supporters is that the squad which starts next season will not
 only be the squad that gets us the Premier League, but one which sees us
 advancing further in Europe."

"There are funds available every year, it depends how much the manager wants."

Kenyon believes that, like last summer, there won't be a great deal of
movement in the transfer market.

"We have got a very interesting market at the moment, it was very quiet last
 year and there is nothing to suggest it is going to be fundamentally different
 this year," he predicted.

"We have heard Arsenal saying they have only got ￡10m to spend, the Italian
 clubs are not in financially good health, so there is a lot happening in the
 industry."
