Milan snubbed in UEFA awards Tuesday 5 August, 2003

Champions’ League winners Milan have seen Pippo Inzaghi and Dida excluded
from the list of players up for the UEFA Awards.
The Brazilian goalkeeper proved pivotal in the Final shoot-out win over
Juventus, while Inzaghi netted twelve goals on their way to the trophy.
There are three Rossoneri players in the list of eighteen candidates –
Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta and Andriy Shevchenko.
But runners-up Juve are given four nods for Gianluigi Buffon, Lilian
Thuram, Edgar Davids and Pavel Nedved.
Despite their elimination at the hands of Juventus, Real Madrid have
six players up for an award.
Other Serie A contenders include semi-finalists Inter with Francesco
Toldo and Christian Vieri, while Roma’s new buy Christian Chivu is
highlighted for his time at Ajax.
The awards will be handed out in Monaco on August 28, on the eve of
the European Super Cup Final between Milan and Porto.
