Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to hit the ground running for
Manchester United next season.
Two major knee operations have decimated his current campaign
in which he is yet to don the famous Red Devils shirt.
Solskjaer's last appearance for the club was last year's FA Cup
final and he is now hoping to return for the start of next term.
The Norwegian hit-man is just taking each step at a time and not
doing anything that could set him back on his road to recovery.
"I'm looking forward to putting the shirt on again because I know
you can't take these things for granted and I know there is a light
at the end of the tunnel," said Solskjaer to Sky Sports News.
"I know if I don't do anything daft now until August I think I'll be back.
That's too far away [thinking about playing for United]. I'm just making
sure I do each step properly.
"I can't kid you and say I haven't been down a couple of times, but
that's absolutely nothing compared to other players - what they've
been through.
"I'm looking forward, that's the main thing."
Despite, planning on returning to Norway in the summer of 2006,
Solskjaer's injury has forced a rethink and now he is looking to
remain at Old Trafford for as long as possible.
"Knee permitting, I'll play as long as Teddy Sheringham is playing,
you never know," he added.
"You play here as long as possible, as long as your fitness and
performances allow."
