赫爾南德斯在2010年7月正式加盟老特拉福德，他成為首位效力曼聯的墨西哥球員。
這位天才新星是從家鄉俱樂部芝華士加盟曼聯的，自從2006年成為職業球員後，他
代表芝華士上陣79次打進29球。
曼聯在一路保密的情況下簽下了赫爾南德斯。「只有球員和他父親知道這次轉會，
之前無論英國還是墨西哥媒體都沒有收到風聲。」
赫爾南德斯的暱稱是「小豌豆（Chicharito - 'little pea'）」，這是因為他父親
是前墨西哥著名前鋒，他父親曾參加過1986年世界盃，由於綠眼睛而有「豌豆（Chicharo
'pea'）」的綽號。
