Rooney: I feel sharper than ever

Wayne Rooney scored his first two goals of the summer in Japan on Saturday
and then delivered a warning to the rest of the Premiership ahead of the
new season.
Rooney, who admits United are aiming for the league title this term, says
with a first full pre-season as an established professional under his belt,
he feels sharper than ever.
"I feel brilliant," he said after his two goals helped United beat Urawa
Reds 2-0. "I've got a solid pre-season behind me, that's something I haven't
had for two years now.
"Before tonight I hadn't scored in pre-season. As a striker you want to
keep scoring, so it was good to get two before we go back to England.
That can only help me going into the season.
"We haven't won the league in two years so that is our main priority this
season."
The 19-year-old striker, who got 17 goals for United last season, scored
both goals in the 2-0 win at Saitama Stadium and looked the sharpest player
on the pitch.
The second of his two goals in the final game of United's Asia Tour was
sublime. It was almost a carbon copy of Eric Cantona's chipped effort
against Sunderland in 1996.
Rooney explained: "I went past two players and saw that the keeper was
off his line so I just decided to chip him."
"I feel brilliant. I've got a solid pre-season behind me, that's something
I haven't had for two years now."
Sir Alex Ferguson was glowing in praise for his young striker's latest
effort. "I saw him sizing it up but it still requires skill and imagination.
Wayne has both," said Sir Alex.
"It was a fantastic goal, measured to absolute perfection. It was the
highlight of the match."
United travel home to Manchester on Saturday evening before completing
their pre-season preparations with a game against Wrexham on Tuesday.
Rooney says he and his team-mates are well prepared for the Champions
League third round qualifier a week Tuesday, on 9 August, and for the
new Premiership season, which kicks off against Everton in two weeks'
time.
"It's been a tough tour for because the opposition haven't made it easy
for us," he added. "It's been a good pre-season for us and a good test.
"The fans from Hong Kong, China and Japan have been amazing. I'm sure
they'll continue to support us."
"There wasn't a lot of air in the stadium which made this game even tougher.
It was very hot out there.
"It took us a while to break them down but we were pleased to get the two
goals when we did."
"The main thing is that we are prepared for the start of the season. The
manager has swapped the team around a bit on the tour so everyone's fitness
is building up. We're ready now.
"We need a good result in the qualifier because we don't want to have to
go away for the second leg under pressure."

此我決定吊門。」
弗格森爵士對魯尼的出色表現讚賞有加。「我看到他在不斷進步，但是一名出色前鋒
需要技術和想像力。而我的魯尼二者兼備。這個進球太完美了。」
魯尼表示他和隊友已經為兩周後開打的新賽季英超聯賽和8月9日星期四開戰的歐洲冠
軍聯賽第三回合資格賽做好了充分準備。
「此次亞洲之旅並不輕鬆，因為我們的對手給我們製造了不少麻煩。這對我們來說是
很好的考驗。」
