Ruud Backs Rooney To Learn From Dismissal
Ruud van Nistelrooy has backed Wayne Rooney to learn from his sending-off
against Villarreal.
Rooney was given his marching orders on 63 minutes after he collected
two yellow cards in quick succession - his second for sarcastially clapping
in the face of referee Kim Milton Nielsen.
Van Nistelrooy believes his team-mate's first caution for a late trip
on Quique Alvarez was a little harsh, but he insists Wayne will learn
from the experience.
"I didn't think the first challenge was worthy of a yellow card
and I thought it was a bit harsh to give him a second one on top,"
van Nistelrooy told MUTV.
「我不認為他的那次鏟球嚴重到該拿黃牌，我也覺得給他第二張黃牌有點太嚴苛了。」
"Wayne knows himself what's going on and what matters now
is that he learns from it."
「Wayne自己很清楚發生了什麼事，現在最重要的是他能從這經驗中學到教訓。」
United's ten men managed to hold out for the remaining twenty-seven minutes
of the match and despite going close on a couple of occasions,
van Nistelrooy was happy to come away with a point.
"I think we should be pleased with the result," said the Dutch striker.
"It's not bad to start with a point away from home.
"The way we played in the first half was disappointing
but we did better in the second half with our passing.
I thought we were solid at the back throughout the game
and Edwin made some good saves.

"Overall, we did okay and given the circumstances we're happy with a point."
