Ryan Giggs believes Manchester United can win The Premiership next
season, despite finishing 18 points behind Chelsea last term.
The Red Devils, who have secured an impressive eight Premiership
titles since 1993, last won the Premiership crown back in 2003.
United were expected to challenge Jose Mourinho's title charge last
season, but Sir Alex Ferguson's boys fell some way short of the mark.
Despite a surprising disparity between the clubs last term, Giggs
believes the Old Trafford club can indeed win The Premiership this
time around.
Giggs thinks the difference between the squads in terms of quality is
minimal and that United only need to improve their mental game to close
the gap.
"I have every reason to believe we can win the title back," said Giggs
to The Sun.
"People go on about the points gap between us and Chelsea but I think
that paints a false picture.
"The ability in this United squad is just as good as theirs. We just
lacked concentration at key times last season and against teams we
would normally beat.
"It's not down to ability. It is down to concentration at the right
times. It is down to passing at the right time, in the right places
and choosing when to shoot."

的問題，而是開始展望曼聯下個賽季的戰績。吉格斯表示，他對於曼聯下賽季奪得英超冠
軍充滿了信心。
在上個賽季的比賽中，曼聯一座獎盃都沒有拿到，他們在英超聯賽中僅僅排名第三位
，比領頭羊切爾西少了18分。不過這樣的情況並沒有讓吉格斯失去信心，這位31歲的威爾
士球星認為自己和隊友們能夠和切爾西相比，不過前提條件是隊員在場上要更加的集中。
吉格斯告訴太陽報的記者：「我相信我們可以奪得冠軍，人們總是在說上賽季我們和
切爾西之間的積分差距，可我認為兩隊之間的差距沒有那麼打。曼聯隊員的能力就和切爾
西隊員的一樣出色，我們只是在關鍵的時刻不夠專注。這不是能力的問題，而是專注與否
的問題，是選擇射門時機的問題。我想主教練會解決這些問題的。」

雖然在上賽季的英超聯賽中，曼聯隊落後切爾西隊足有18分，並最終只獲得了聯賽第
三名，賽季最後階段，曼聯隊還更換了俱樂部的主人，一度引發了球迷的不滿。
不過，曼聯主將吉格斯依然認為，紅魔依然是新賽季英超聯賽的冠軍爭奪者，曼聯與
切爾西之間的差距並不大，他們有機會在來年擊敗對手。
曼聯隊自從1993年英超創建以來，先後贏得8次冠軍，上次贏得冠軍是在2003年。上賽
季曼聯一度有機會挑戰穆裡尼奧的切爾西兵團，但因為種種原因最終失敗。
對於新賽季，吉格斯在接受英國《太陽報》的採訪時認為，「人們會看著積分表，並
認為這就是曼聯和切爾西之間的差距，但事實上他們都錯了」。
「曼聯隊擁有和切爾西一樣的優秀球員，上賽季我們失敗的一個重要原因，是我們在
和一些弱小球隊的比賽中沒有能集中精力，這是我們失敗的關鍵原因」。
「因此我認為，這並非實力上的差距，而是我們沒能全神貫注的爭取贏得比賽，在比
賽中，這體現在我們沒能在合適的時機把球傳到合適的位置上，以及選擇在什麼時候去射
門」。
「不過，現在我們有足夠的信心，下賽季一定可以把獎盃捧回來」。
在新賽季開始前，曼聯先後引進了門將范德薩和韓國邊鋒樸智星，這在無形中將加強
球隊的實力，尤其是在普遍被認為軟肋的門將位置上。紅魔的新主人，美國大亨格雷澤也
表示他們希望能在新賽季贏得英超冠軍來證明紅魔王朝並沒有倒下。
