Neville Nears Return But Giggs Still Some Way Off
剛在週四晚上踢了一小時預備隊比賽的Gary隨隊出征Charlton
Saha開始訓練了 應該快好了...
壞消息是Giggsy的cheekbone傷勢還要兩個禮拜才會好 @@@@
雖然經過了國家對賽事的間隔
Sir Alex希望大家不要重蹈去年的覆轍
(贏了Arsenal可是之後沒有一鼓作氣維持下去 還是輸給中下游球隊)
希望大家提起打敗Chelsea的精神
好好加油!
Gary Neville will travel with United's squad for the Premiership visit
to Charlton on Saturday.
It is a welcome return for the experienced right-back,
who has been out of first-team action since tearing his groin muscle
in the Champions League qualifier with Debreceni back in August.
Neville came through an hour of Reserve team football on Thursday night
and is in the squad for the trip to The Valley.
"Gary will travel with us to Charlton," said Sir Alex,
who says the 30-year-old right-back is an influential figure in his side.
"Gary's got great experience, he's a great character in the dressing room."
Louis Saha (hamstring) is also nearing a return to fitness
and is in first-team training.
"Louis is doing particularly well and isn't far away."
But the bad news is that Ryan Giggs is still a fortnight away
as he continues his recovery from the broken cheekbone he sustained
against Lille in October.
Ferguson said: "Ryan [Giggs] saw a specialist a few days ago
and was told he won't be able to start training for another two weeks,
which is frustrating for us."
The Reds boss is hoping United can kick-on from their morale-boosting
victory over Chelsea two weeks ago and avoid a similar scenario
to the one they suffered last season when they beat Arsenal
but lost at Portsmouth in their next match.
"After that victory over Arsenal we thought we'd go on a run,"
recalls Sir Alex.
"The confidence was back after a great performance but it was followed by
a disappointing defeat at Portsmouth - a game we should have won
by five or six goals.
"We're now in a similar situation; we go to Charlton after a great result
and performance against Chelsea and I'd be bitterly disappointed
if we didn't get a victory on Saturday.
"Charlton are a fantastic side who are playing very well.
Alan Curbishley's done a great job during the 14 years he's been there.
"The Valley is one of my favourite stadiums - it's a marvellous arena
to play football and the atmosphere is always great.
"This game is going to be a test for us but you have to come through tests.
We did two weeks ago against Chelsea and hopefully we can do it again."
Report by Ben Hibbs, and Gemma Thompson at Carrington.
