Manchester United's title hopes have been dealt a stunning blow
after crocked striker Ruud van Nistelrooy was ruled out of the Christmas
and New Year games. United sent van Nistelrooy for a scan on
his calf injury and Sir Alex Ferguson fears the striker may need
at least four weeks' rest. The Dutch international could be out for
up to 10 matches, including the key clash with Liverpool at Anfield
on January 15. "There is a bit of concern because Ruud is
the best striker in the business and we want him back," said Ferguson.
"We're sending Ruud to an orthopaedic specialist.
The problem has resurfaced again this week and it's a bit of a worry."
