英格蘭失利令費迪南德痛苦 曼聯中衛自曝不敢上街購物

英格蘭隊從世界盃上鎩羽而歸之後，球隊的中後衛，曼聯球星費迪南德至今仍然沉
浸在悲痛之中。
費迪南德在本屆世界盃中的表現可圈可點，但在四分之一決賽同葡萄牙隊的比賽中
，英格蘭隊再一次輸在了罰球點前。賽前英格蘭隊的呼聲非常高，他們至少期望可以打
進半決賽，但這次失敗卻令費迪南德非常沮喪。
在接受《太陽報》的採訪時，費迪南德說：「很難接受這個結果，我原本希望我們
至少可以打進四強，但結果令我很失望。如果我是一名球迷我會非常悲傷，我們本來可
以給球迷更多，我們沒有發揮出正常水平，要讓心情好起來需要很長時間。人們總是給
我們很大的支持，我們沒有帶回勝利，我們非常痛苦。」
球迷的希望再次化為泡影，費迪南德承認他害怕公眾會對球隊產生逆反。他說：「
說實話這令人非常為難，我都不敢出家門和我的女朋友麗貝卡上街購物。每當我出去時人
們會告訴我『幹得不錯』，他們的初衷是好的，而我會只能去想：『我們哪幹得不錯了？
』」

Rio embarrassed by England failure

Rio Ferdinand is still reeling from England's World Cup exit at the hands
of Portugal.
The United defender - one of his side's outstanding performers in Germany
- was shocked as Sven Goran Eriksson's side were once again beaten in a
penalty shootout.
English hopes were sky-high before the tournament began, and Rio admits
even he had subscribed to the view that his side could reach at least the
semi-finals.
Rio told The Sun: "I’m gutted. I genuinely went into this tournament
believing that we would get to the semi-finals at least - and I would
have been disappointed with that.
"If I was a fan I would be desperately disappointed. I would have expected
more than what we gave them. We didn’t do ourselves justice. It will take
a long time to get over it.
"The country always gets behind us so well. It’s so frustrating we couldn't
come home with the trophy everyone wanted."
Having seen the nation's hopes come unstuck, Ferdinand admits he feared a
backlash from the general public towards the entire squad.
"It's embarrassing if I'm being honest," he said. "I was a bit embarrassed
to set foot outside the door when I went shopping with my girlfriend Rebecca.
"We had to get the shopping in but I was a bit embarrassed to step foot
outside the door. I walked into Sainsbury’s and people were coming up
to me saying 'Well done.' They had the best of intentions but all I could
think of was ‘Well done for what?’"
