Let’s do it for Keano
Alex Ferguson wants Manchester United in the Champions League final
as a tribute to his captain. Roy Keane, along with Paul Scholes,
missed the 1999 final triumph over Bayern Munich because
they were suspended. Now Ferguson believes, with chances running out
for Keane in particular, the club have to reach another final.
He said: “I’m sure there is a great desire in Roy and Paul to
have an opportunity to play in a final. The chances are running out
for Roy in particular at 33-years-old.
Paul has got a bit more time at 30.
But they both deserve an appearance in a final for Manchester United
because they have been such great servants for this club.”

「以基恩的名義，我們必須站在冠軍聯賽的決賽場上！」曼聯主帥弗格森在得知冠軍
聯賽16強抽籤結果後，對全隊下達了軍令狀。
1999年曼聯染指歐冠聯賽冠軍那次，基恩和斯科爾斯因為禁賽錯過了決賽。眼看基恩
年勢已高，弗格森知道屬於他的時間已經不多了。為了圓基恩的冠軍夢，曼聯要越過一切
障礙進入最後的決賽。而他們的第一道坎，是2003年歐洲冠軍AC米蘭。「我知道他們兩個
做 夢也想踢決賽，羅伊的機會已經不多了，而保羅的時間相對寬裕點。但他們兩個人都
應該代表曼聯站在決賽場上，因為他們是俱樂部最忠實的奴僕。」基恩也說：「我從來不
覺得自己獲得了歐洲冠軍，我應該打決賽然而我沒能。也許，還有另外一次機會等著我。
」
不過在抽籤結果出來後，很多人都覺得曼聯想在5月25日這天出現在伊斯坦布爾的決賽
賽場上可能性已經大大降低了。然而弗格森卻不這麼看，碰上米蘭是他夢寐以求的事情。
「我早就有感覺我們會碰上AC米蘭，我從來沒在任期內碰過他們，這肯定是一次偉大的交
戰。我想球員們都期待與米蘭交手，這是他們生命中一次巨大的挑戰。」
弗格森現在唯一需要祈禱的，是范尼能趕在與米蘭交手前盡快康復。小腿和腳跟受傷
，使得范尼不得不休戰一個月。「這對我們是個巨大的打擊，我們希望他盡快傷癒回到隊
中。」
