Pre-match meals of steak and chips are now a thing of the past, replaced instead by a range of pasta, fish and vegetables. Those types of foods were high on the agenda when Paul Scholes and club dietician Trevor Lea met finalists of A Taste of Trafford's Design-A-Dinner competition. The competition, which formed part of the Manchester Food and Drink Festival, was open to children from the borough of Trafford aged between 5 and 11 who were asked to design their favourite healthy meal. Over 400 entries were received from individual children, brownie groups and schools across the borough and after careful consideration from a final selection of six, Paul and Trevor selected two winners, eight-year-old Ben LeVasseur and ten-year-old Megan Clough from Oldfield Brow Primary School. The winning meals featured a range of nutritional foods including fish, peas, mushrooms fajitas and potatoes. Scholes stressed the importance of a good diet in the modern game, saying: “In this day and age it is vital to make children and young people aware that a healthy diet is essential for their future wellbeing. ”Initiatives such as this can only be a good thing in raising awareness of foods that are healthy.” Report by Gemma Thompson. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.220.20.40
