STEVEN Gerrard has hailed Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson as the best
manager of the past decade.
傑拉德說，在過去十年裡頭，弗格森是最好的教練。
The Liverpool captain has been the subject of transfer speculation linking him
with a switch to Old Trafford since Ferguson hailed him as the new Roy Keane an
d the most effective midfielder in the Premiership.
自從弗格森公開稱讚、並將他比喻為新基恩、英超最優秀中場之一，這位利物普隊長已經
成為曼聯轉會傳聞的目標之一。
And revealing that the admiration is mutual Gerrard said he was flattered by Fe
rguson's praise.
對於弗格森的讚賞，傑拉德異常的高興。
"I was flattered and very surprised because he is the best manager around and h
as been for the past 10 years, so for him to say those things about me was real
ly nice," Gerrard told the Daily Star.

However Gerrard is a lifelong Liverpool fan and despite the interest from Unite
d he is unlikely to follow Alan Smith's example in pushing for a move to one of
his club's biggest rivals.

The 23-year-old has been in inspired form since being handed the captain's armb
and at Anfield and despite the disappointment of only finishing fourth last sea
son he will almost certainly stay for at least another season to see what impac
t can be made by the club's new manager.
With Valencia's Rafa Benitez heavily linked with the post, there is renewed opt
imism on Merseyside that the club could make a real push for honours, especiall
y if the Spaniard can persuade some of his La Liga winning squad to join him in
making the move.
Gerrard, though, did concede that the next three months will be crucial for Liv
erpool, hinting that if they flatter to deceive again he might be forced to loo
k elsewhere if he is to pick up the trophies his talent demands.
"The next three months for Liverpool are going to be really crucial, as importa
nt as they have ever been," he said.
"The most important thing is getting the right players, a manager can only impr
ove a team a certain amount.
"We need three top quality players - one in each department."
