Ferguson Expects Milan In Friday's Draw
Countdown To The Draw: Friday 11:00GMT
Sir Alex Ferguson fully expects United to be dealt AC Milan
in Friday's Champions League last 16 draw.
The draw, at 11:00GMT, sees United definitely facing one of five clubs;
either AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan, Monaco or Bayer Leverkusen.
However, having not played the six-times European Cup winners
during his 18-year tenure at the club, Ferguson admits to
a strong feeling that his side will be paired with Carlo Ancelotti's Milan.
"We've played Monaco, Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen twice,"
said the United boss ahead of the draw. "The only team that
we haven't met is AC Milan.
"I've been here for 18 years and never met them. We played them
in America on the tour, of course.
"But I think fate will probably throw them our way. I have that feeling."
(Fergie不是自己也不信籤真的是用抽的咩 @@@@)
"We've played against Juventus so many times," added Ferguson.
"Most of their team is still intact. They have strengthened
in one or two positions and have a new manager in Fabio Capello.
Nevertheless we know a lot about them having played them over the years."
Milan have twice knocked United out of the European Cup at the
semi-final stages. In two previous encounters with the Rossoneri,
United were beaten 5-2 on aggregate in the tragic 1957/58 season,
and then 2-1 on aggregate as the Reds defended their European Crown
11 years later, in 1968/69.
Under Ferguson's reign, United have played Juventus more than
any of the other five possible last 16 opponents, meeting the Bianconeri
on eight occasions.
As group runners-up, the first-leg of United's last 16 tie will played
be at Old Trafford on Tue 22 or Wed 23 February.
ManUtd.com will bring you news of the draw as it happens,
and will confirm dates and kick-off times for the ties.
