Uefa to decide on Ronaldo gesture
Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo may face a Uefa disciplinary charge
over his middle finger gesture to Benfica fans in the Champions League.
Ronaldo, 20, used to play for Benfica's rivals Sporting Lisbon and was booed
whenever he touched the ball during United's 2-1 defeat on Wednesday.
The winger responded with his gesture when substituted after 67 minutes.
A Uefa spokesman told The Sun: "We are aware of the incident but don't yet
know if any action will be taken."
The official added: "We will know more in a day's time.
"If the evidence has been presented to us or reported by the Uefa delegate a
disciplinary case can be opened and action taken against the player."
Ronaldo believes the abuse he suffered was uncalled for and was clearly
angered by the Benfica supporters as United lost and were knocked out of the
Champions League.
"There was nothing to justify the way the crowd treated me," he said.
