Gary Neville believes United must add a ruthless streak to their game
if they're to have any chance of getting their hands on some silverware
this season.
United's failure to convert their goalscoring chances cost them dearly
in all competitions last season as their three biggest rivals
- Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool - walked away with the game's top honours.
Neville is determined to ensure there will be no repeat of such an outcome
this season and he is urging his team-mates to stamp their authority
on every game and kill teams off early on.
"We've got to let everybody know that we're up for it this season,"
the Reds defender told Manchester United Radio.
"We've got to get in amongst teams and be aggressive against them
in terms of getting to the ball quickly, having shots on goal
and taking our chances.
"I don't know what the statistics are but last season
we didn't score enough goals in the first half of games,
particularly at Old Trafford, which gave so many teams encouragement
and meant that we were having to chase matches.
「我不知道上賽季的確切數據是什麼，但是我們在上半場進球的比賽不夠多，
特別是在主場，這樣就給了很多隊伍心理上的鼓勵，也就意味著我們必須
在後面追趕著比賽。」
"It's therefore important we go out and blitz teams early on,"
adds Neville. "That's been a trademark of ours over the years
especially at home. In days gone by we used to win games
in the first fifteen minutes of matches
- we did that on a couple of occasions last season
but we've got to do it more this season.
「因此，一出場就早早閃電攻擊隊伍對我們來說很重要。
這幾年來曼聯的註冊球風就是常常在前十五分鐘就贏得比賽，特別是在主場，

"It settles the crowd down and lets us relax and play our football.
It also means the opposition have to change their original game-plan
which usually means they've got to come out of their shape
giving us even more opportunity to attack.

先進球也可以迫使對手改變原本通常是趨向防守的作戰計畫，
使他們把場面打開讓我們有更多的進攻機會。」
"We always believe that if we go one or two goals up
there is no better team in the league at keeping the ball
and passing than us. We've got players who can interchange
all over the pitch and we're very difficult to play against once
we get ourselves in front."
我們一直相信如果有了一球或兩球的領先，英超裡沒有其他隊伍比曼聯

After opening their Premiership campaign with two impressive victories
over Everton and Aston Villa, United's attentions turn to Europe
on Wednesday evening.
They face Debreceni in Budapest in the second leg of
their Champions League qualifier as they attempt to secure their place
in the group stages of the competition following their 3-0 home win
over the Hungarians two weeks ago.
"We've just got to keep winning," insists Neville.
"We've got to focus on not letting teams play their game
and make sure we don't give them any kind of encouragement.
"We must be ruthless in every single match we play."

經過上個賽季的陰霾之後，「紅魔」曼聯本賽季期望賽季能夠有所作為，球隊後衛加
裡-內維爾認為曼聯要想取得突破，就必須要在比賽中踢得更具侵略性才行。
上個賽季，曼聯可謂是英超四強中最失落的一支球隊。切爾西異軍突起，捧走了英超
冠軍獎盃；阿森納贏得了足總杯的冠軍；「紅軍」利物浦儘管在英倫本土無所作為，但是
他們在歐洲賽場上奪得了冠軍聯賽的冠軍獎盃。惟一一個空手而歸的就是「紅魔」曼聯，
這個賽季曼聯不想再重蹈覆轍。
內維爾確信不想再讓球隊經歷那樣一個碌碌無為的賽季，他希望「紅魔」在比賽中踢
得更具侵略性，更加殘忍地對待對手；在每一場中都要將對手「趕盡殺絕」，建立球隊的
權威。
「我們要讓所有的對手都知道，這個賽季我們要力爭有所作為。」加裡-內維爾對「曼
聯電台」如是說。「在每一場比賽中，我們都要快速地得球、射門，盡快地抓住我們自己
的機會。」
「我不知道具體的數據統計如何，但是球隊上個賽季在比賽的上半場進球數不夠多，
尤其是在老特拉福德球場的比賽中。這讓很多對手獲得了比賽的勇氣，也讓我們在比賽中
疲於追趕對手。」
「所以，這個賽季我們要迅速出擊，閃電般地進球，這對我們很重要。」內維爾繼續
說道。「過去很多年，快速進球一直都是我們球隊的風格，尤其是在老特拉福德球場。我
們通常在比賽的前15分鐘就贏得了比賽，上個賽季我們也有過這樣的比賽，但是這個賽季
我們需要更多這樣的比賽。」
「我們必須要讓對手知道，這個賽季『紅魔』回來了，所以我們要在比賽中讓自己變
得更加『殘忍』。」加裡-內維爾說道。「這會讓對手在比賽中喪失鬥志，也會讓我們自
己在比賽中更輕鬆。同時，這也意味著對手要在比賽中改變他們先前的作戰計劃。如果對
手不顧一切地攻出來，我們會在比賽中獲得更多的進球機會。」
「我一直認為，如果我們在比賽中先打進一、兩球，聯盟中就沒有球隊可以再悠然自
得地控球、傳球了。我們的隊員在球場上非常全面，如果我們能夠在比賽中率先取得領先
優勢，那麼就很少有球隊能夠反敗為勝。」
