Mikael denies Lyon rumours

Mikael Silvestre has denied rumours linking him with a move to French
champions Lyon.

Following the arrival of new defenders Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic
in the January transfer window, Silvestre had been tipped to join
former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier in Ligue One.
However, Mikael told French sports paper L'Equipe: "I don't care about
what is written. I almost play every match so I imagine Alex Ferguson
is satisfied. Anyway if he wasn't, he wouldn't have waited to let me know.
"I will not leave Manchester. I still have a year-and-a-half remaining
on my contract and I am not on the list of departures."
The 28-year-old defender was previously a target for Houllier at Liverpool
in 1999, before he opted for a ￡5m move to Old Trafford from Inter Milan.
Silvestre remains confident that, whether the high-flying French champions
are interested or not, Sir Alex Ferguson still requires him at Old Trafford.
"I don't know where the Lyon rumour has come from but I know that Ferguson's
willing to keep me - he has no need to tell me that," he said.
"My future is still at Manchester and it's where I aim to stay.
"We will see at the end of the season if the club thinks the same. It
is true that there are four players for two positions now. There will
be competition, but I am not worried."
