Fans' Support Inspired Us To Victory - Ruud
Ruud van Nistelrooy has hailed the reaction of the United fans
during the 2-1 victory over Benfica.
The Old Trafford atmosphere during and after the Champions League victory
was in complete contrast to that of last Saturday when the team
left the pitch to a chorus of jeers following the shock defeat to Blackburn.
A rendition of 'Stand up if you love Fergie' was just one of
a number of chants of support from the fans as United secured
a crucial European victory to put them top of Group D.
"The atmosphere was brilliant," van Nistelrooy said after the match.
"The fans supported us from the first minute to the last.
"We dominated the game but we were shocked by the equaliser.
People may have thought 'here we go again' but we were able to come back."
"It was great to score again, especially so late on to win the match.
