Cantona: Wayne Can Become Best In The World
United legend Eric Cantona has joined Wayne Rooney's growing list of
admirers and insists the United striker can develop into the best
player in the world in a few years time.
However, the Frenchman is quick to point out that Rooney's career could
just as easily hit a downward spiral if he is unable to maintain a healthy
lifestyle.
"I love Rooney as a player," declared Cantona in an interview with The
Daily Telegraph.
"He can become the best player in the world at 25, 26, if he knows that
in football you need to be strong, train hard, go to bed early, be careful
what you are eating, what you are drinking, what you do in life.
"That is very, very important. All the best players in the world knew all
the time these kinds of things are very important.
"If he realises that at 25, 26, then Rooney will be in the best three
players in the world.
"But at the same time, I am a bit worried, that at 25, 26, he could be
out of the best teams, out of England, out of the best 100 players.
Completely out.
"I am sure Alex Ferguson is very strong and will help. Rooney is still
young. But somebody needs to say it to him. The last time I saw him I
wanted to say it but I saw him only quickly."
Cantona highlights Robbie Fowler, who has recently returned to Liverpool,
as a prime example of how potential can fail to be fulfilled on a long
term basis.
"Fowler was so good at 18, and four, five years later, at 23 or 24,
finished, not even [playing regularly] for England, not even for the
best teams. Finished. Completely. Out. Why?"
"Some footballers who are clever enough, like Roy Keane, Ronaldinho,
and Zidane, realise that," adds Cantona. "You cannot be a great player
without being a great trainer.
"I was the first at training and last out of training at United because
I wanted to practise everything for the game. I was ambitious to play
better every time. I achieved a lot."
United fans everywhere will be hoping Rooney can do the same.

坎通納勉勵魯尼勤奮訓練 福勒失足成為反面教材

曼聯小將魯尼自出道之日起就吸引了眾多媒體的注意和億萬球迷的喜愛。伴隨著「天
才少年」的稱號，逐漸成長的魯尼已經成為了世界頂級的足球運動員之一。諸多傳奇球星
在看過魯尼的比賽之後都這位年輕的小伙子讚不絕口。前曼聯隊傳奇球星「國王」坎通納
也沒例外，他表示說幾年之後魯尼將能成為全世界最好的球員。
不僅如此，坎通納還告誡魯尼要刻苦訓練並保持健康。沒有健康的身體做保障，即使
是「天才少年」，最終也只能落個曇花一現。「我非常喜歡魯尼這名球員，」坎通納在接
受《每日電訊》採訪時說道。「如果他堅持刻苦地訓練、早睡早起、注意飲食、保持身體
健康，到25、26歲的時候，魯尼會成為世界上最好的球員。這非常非常重要！世界上最好
的球員們時時刻刻都會銘記這些重要的事情。」
「如果魯尼能夠做到這些，到25、26歲的時候，他肯定將成為世界上最好的三名球員
之一。但與此同時，我也有點擔心。如果魯尼做不到這些的話，很可能在25、26歲的時候
，他就已經被擠出了曼聯隊，世界前100名最好的球員也排不上他。」坎通納繼續說道。
「當然，我相信弗格森是一位非常嚴厲的教練，他會幫助魯尼。魯尼現在還非常年輕，需
要有人在他身邊給他指引。上次我見到魯尼的時候本想和他談談，但是我們的見面相當匆
忙。」
坎通納還拿福勒做了一個方面教材，他說：「福勒18歲的時候是個相當出色的球員，
但是4、5年之後他完了，現在他甚至連英格蘭隊都進不去，更別說什麼最好的球隊了。他
完全被排除了，為什麼呢？」
「有些球員腦袋足夠聰明，就像基恩、羅納爾迪尼奧、齊達內那樣，但是不認真、刻
苦的訓練，是怎麼也成不了一個好球員的。」
「當初我自己在曼聯隊時，我是訓練最早、收工最晚的一個球員，因為我渴望把每一
點都做到最好。我當時雄心萬丈，立志要一場踢得比一場好。而且，我做到了。」相信曼
聯的球迷都在期待著魯尼，希望他也能如前輩坎通納一樣踢出一片美好未來。
