Fergie plans ￡30 Million Swoop
Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to make a ￡30 million summer splash for two world
class midfielders to banish the spectre of Roy Keane. Manchester United's
owners, the Glazers, are backing their manager all the way by sanctioning
moves for Lyon's Mahamadou Diarra and Corinthian's Javier Mascherano.
There is also an interest in Deportivo La Coruna's Aldo Duscher but it's Mali
international Diarra and Argentina's rising star Mascherano who are on Fergie's
A list as he looks to finally plug the gap left by former skipper Keane's
departure.
Diarra is also admired by Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho and Arsenal.
But it's understood that United are leading the way because they are prepared
to allow defender Mikael Silvestre to move in the opposite direction in a
combined deal worth around ￡15 million.
