Ferguson unfazed by Rio stalemate

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is not worried by the deadlock
over Rio Ferdinand's contract.

Ferdinand's agent Pini Zahavi said last week that talks over a new deal
for the 26-year-old defender had stalled.

But Ferguson told the News of the World: "It doesn't bother me. We have
a good squad of players here and we will cope with whatever happens.


"It is really entirely up to the player. We have made an offer. That is
our position. It is a good offer."


But Ferguson added: "Whether he signs or not, he has two years left on
his deal.


"We have to expect nowadays that negotiations take longer than they used
to take.


"Agents play their part and, in my experience, talks tend to get dragged out."


It is thought that England star Ferdinand has been offered ￡100,000 a week
but is holding out for an extra ￡20,000.

Zahavi said recently: "No-one is having talks. There is no need to speak.
He has two years left on his contract.


"There was at some stage an idea for a new contract but we could not reach
an agreement.


"But he is loyal to Manchester United and I am sure at the end of the day

    英國《世界新聞報》的文章介紹到，費迪南德的續約進展的確很不順利，在錢的問題
上雙方都不太願意讓步，曼聯主帥弗格森再次發出了最後通牒，簽約或走人。


　　弗格森表示，自己絕對不會屈服與對方的壓力，支付高達12萬英鎊的超級周薪，26歲
的費迪南德拒絕了曼聯隊開出的11萬英鎊的周薪，弗格森生氣的表示，「這不會影響我們
，我們球隊中有很好的球員，無論發生什麼，我們都能找到代替者」。


　　「對於球員來說我們已經仁至義盡，我們給他了合同，這是我們的態度，這也是一份
很好的合同。無論他是否簽字，我們和他還有兩年的合同，經紀人方面有自己的看法，在
我的經驗看來，續約談判會繼續持續下去」。


　　曼聯方面表示，他們願意和裡奧就續約問題打持久戰，甚至持續到聖誕節。不過老特
拉福德人表示，曼聯暫時不會賣掉費迪南德，球員本人也沒有意向離隊。


　　曼聯支付給費迪南德的周薪是9萬5千英鎊，此外每週還可以從肖像權中得到1萬5千英
鎊，總和11萬英鎊，這個薪水已經超過了傑拉德續約利物浦的10萬英鎊周薪。這個薪水也
已經比曼聯隊中的基恩和范尼都要高。


　　曼聯認為，這已經是他們開出的最好條件，比球隊過去提出的10萬英鎊的周薪更加豐
厚，曼聯不打算直接支付10萬英鎊的周薪，是因為超過10萬的話個人所得稅將明顯提高。


　　費迪南德和他的經紀人扎哈維表示，他們需要的是12萬英鎊的周薪，因此並沒有同意
曼聯的11萬。從這種情況來看，雙方可能還要繼續進行拉鋸戰。
