Jones: Loan Move Is Good For Me
David Jones hopes a loan spell with Preston will fast-track his progression
to United's first team in a similar way to David Beckham's stint with the
Lancashire club.
The 20-year-old played his final game for United in a 3-1 Reserve victory
over Wrexham before going on a one-year loan spell at Deepdale.
Jones made his first-team debut last season as a substitute in the Carling
Cup quarter final win over Arsenal. He also travelled with United's squad
on their recent tour of the Far East.
The midfielder captained the Reserves last season as they lifted four
trophies. Now he is looking forward to first-team football at Deepdale.
"I spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson when I came back after the month break and
he was keen for me to go on loan somewhere this season," he told Preston's
website.
"Preston is the perfect club for me. It's is a great club and I'm delighted
to be here.
"Beckham has come here before and, hopefully, I can do what he did. He did
well here and went back and had a big impact at Manchester United.
"The club did really well last season and my dad followed the club as a kid,
so I know a lot about them.
"I hope to improve individually as a player and give the team some success
and hopefully get Preston into the Premiership."
Jones is the third player this week to be sent out on loan by Sir Alex. The
rationale is that Reserve team football does not pose enough of a challenge
to players on the periphery of the first-team.
The Southport-born midfielder joins Ben Foster (Watford), Chris Eagles
(Sheffield Wednesday) and Jonathan Spector (Charlton) out on loan.

McShane gets loan move to Brighton

Seagulls Swoop For McShane
United's 19-year-old central defender, Paul McShane, has joined Brighton
and Hove Albion on loan for five months.
The Irish centre-back is yet to make a first-team appearance for United,
but has been a regular member of the Reserves for the last two seasons.
McShane also enjoyed a loan spell with Walsall last season.
Seagulls boss Mark McGhee told the club's website: "We're pleased to have
Paul joining us. He's exactly the type of player we want at this time and
we think he'll be good for us.
"We've had Paul watched - he played well, so we're looking foward to working
with him."
