Liverpool are ready to hijack Cicinho's 7 million transfer to Manchester
United.
The Sao Paulo full-back, dubbed the new Cafu, met United boss Sir Alex
Ferguson last week for talks over a move to Old Trafford.
But Cicinho, who is awaiting an Italian passport to speed up the deal,
says Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has made a last-ditch move for him.
Cicinho said: "Manchester United are a great club that challenges for
trophies but I have also heard Liverpool are now interested. It's a
matter for my agents."
"It's a matter for my agents to deal with from now on. The Premiership
is a great league and any professional player would regard it as a
fantastic challenge."
