Ferguson says Evra is set to sign

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Monaco defender Patrice Evra will undergo
a medical on Monday prior to joining Manchester United.
Fergie證實 Evra 即將接受體檢
Ferguson said the France international left-back, 24, would definitely
be moving to Old Trafford, with the fee reported to be around £5.5m.
轉會費約550萬英鎊 (不過Sky是寫 400萬英鎊~ 希望是400萬英鎊 ^^)
Ferguson said: "The deal is done, he will come in Monday.
"We have been looking at him for some time since Gabriel Heinze was
injured in September."
「合約已經談成,Evra星期一就會來了。
自從9月 Heinze 受傷後,我們就已經注意他一段時間了。」
Manchester United chief executive David Gill was in France on Thursday
night to complete the final formalities of the deal for Evra, who has
been in dispute with Monaco.
Evra had made it clear he wished to leave in the January transfer window.
Inter Milan also wanted to sign the defender, but had a £3.5m offer
rejected by Monaco.
Ferguson sees Evra as a solution to his problems at left-back following
Gabriel Heinze's long-term injury.
John O'Shea has been filling the role but United have continued to leak
soft goals, a failing which has seen them slip 13 points behind Chelsea
at the top of the Premiership.
He will be the second signing Ferguson has made in the transfer window
following the arrival of central defender Nemanja Vidic.

Breaking News: Reds Land French Left-Back
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed United are close to signing the French
international full-back Patrice Evra.
The Reds boss told ManUtd.com today that the transfer of the 24 year-old
is all but completed. If he passes a medical, he could make his debut as
early as next Wednesday, when United face Blackburn at Ewood Park in the
Carling Cup semi-final first leg.
"The deal is done and he'll have a medical on Monday," said Sir Alex.
"We've known about him for quite a while and he's improved every year.
We've been watching him all season particularly since Gabi (Heinze)
got his injury. His age is right and he gives us a different option
at left-back."
United have been in negotiations with Evra's current club AS Monaco and
he now looks set to become Fergie's second signing of the January transfer
window.
Serbia & Montenegro international Nemanja Vidic had his work permit
application approved this week and he completed his move from Spartak
Moscow to Old Trafford.
If the big centre-half doesn't feature against Burton on Sunday, there's
a big chance that United will have two debutants on duty against Blackburn.
