弗格森也開始抱怨陣容厚度的問題了，在冬季轉會結束後，他承認自己不得不以一個
受損的陣容來應付剩餘的賽季。「我們需要依靠一個有19或者20名球員的陣容，過去我們
的陣容更龐大，不過那樣的陣容也有問題，比如球員會因打不上比賽不高興。還有就是薪
水問題，現在球員的工資都很高，我們承受不起過於龐大的陣容。」
冬季的時候弗格森只加強了後防線，並未如人們期待的那樣引進知名的中場球員，目
前曼聯正在追逐的目標是尼日利亞年輕球員米克爾，不過現在的情況有些複雜，弗格森稱
尼日利亞人仍想加盟曼聯，不過從球員本人那裡得到的反應卻是相反的。
「我認為要和這個孩子坐下來談談，」弗格森說，「他現在壓力太大了，而且受到了
威脅，如果你問他想為誰踢球，答案會是曼聯。我認為他將穿上曼聯的球衣，我們擁有這

Kapo Claims Reds Interest
Monaco midfielder Olivier Kapo claims he was on the verge of signing
for United in the January transfer window.
Kapo, primarily a winger, is currently on loan from Juventus.
But the Ivory Coast-born French international has reportedly fallen out
with Monaco coach Francesco Guidolin.
Sir Alex was looking to bring in another midfielder to bolster
his depleted ranks.
"The most serious trail was Manchester United. It was almost settled,"
Kapo told L'Equipe TV. "I had my plane tickets to have the medical
examinations on January 30 and sign the next day. "But, for darker reasons
that happened behind my back, it was not settled," he added.
另一方面，Silvestre拒絕轉會去Lyon.
United could have had a player going in the opposite direction
across the English Channel, with Mikael Silvestre claiming he turned down
a late move to French club Olympique Lyonnais.
"I had an opportunity to go to Lyon which I refused," Silvestre told MUTV.
"I spoke to Gerard Houllier (Lyon manager) but I am cup-tied for
the Champions League and we both know he is not going to play one person
in the league and one in Europe.
"I wasn't going to have much opportunity, so I knew it wasn't a good move."

Fergie Still Hopeful Over Mikel Row
Sir Alex Ferguson remains hopeful that John Obi Mikel will play his
football at Old Trafford, despite the ongoing row with Chelsea over
the player's future.
United announced an agreement with Mikel's club FC Lyn Oslo on 29 April
last year and have a contract to prove so.
However, Mikel has since claimed he was pressured into signing for the Reds,
and instead wants to carve out a career at Stamford Bridge.
The matter has since been referred to FIFA but Fergie says the club
are yet to discover what will happen next.
"The worrying thing is we've not heard a word from FIFA,"
explained the United boss.
"Originally they said they'd rely on the court's decision which was
in favour of us. It then went back to FIFA but we've heard nothing since."
When asked whether United fans could expect to see him in a red shirt
one day, Fergie replied simply: "I certainly hope so because
he's a marvellous player.
"If we were to sit the boy down away from all the pressure he's under
and all the supposed threats he's had and asked him who he really
wanted to play for, it would be Manchester United; I really believe that."
