Ritchie Signs New Reds Deal
United youngster Ritchie Jones has spoken of his delight at signing a
new two-year contract with the club.
The deal will keep the 19-year-old midfielder at Old Trafford until
June 2008.
"My new contract gives me the chance to stay at Old Trafford and work
with some fantastic coaches and players," he enthused.
"You can't get any better than learning from Sir Alex Ferguson and the
rest of the staff here. Hopefully I will get a few more run-outs in the
first team next season and build on things from there."
Jones, who made his first team debut against Barnet in the League Cup
last October, was part of the Reserves' side that claimed the Treble
last season.
"You can't ask for any more than winning a Treble," he declared. "The
lads worked really hard to achieve it all season.
"It's hard to win it back to back, but we've done really well and
hopefully we can win it again next season.
"Winning when you're young is the best thing you can do, and hopefully
we'll take it into our senior careers."
Ritchie Jones was quoted in a press release from his representatives
Stellar Group.
Meanwhile, last season's Reserve team captain Markus Neumayr will
return to his native Germany and join Duisburg at the end of June.
The midfielder has been granted a free transfer by United after three
years as a professional at Old Trafford.
Goalkeeper Tommy Lee, who has also been released by United, has signed
a two-year contract with Macclesfield.
The 20-year-old stopper signed on loan for the Silkmen in January last
season and made 12 appearances, conceding 15 goals.
