Ribery pushes for Lyon move

France winger Franck Ribery has admitted for the first time that he wants
to quit Marseille to join Lyon.
The exciting former Galatasaray midfielder, who has also been linked with
Manchester United, is upset with coach Jean Fernandez's departure.
Although he is concentrating on helping Les Bleus qualify for the knockout
stages after two disappointing draws with Switzerland and South Korea,
Ribery is pushing for a move from l'OM, despite being under contract until
2010.
"Lyon are clearly my priority for next season," he told Le Parisien.
"My wish is not to play with l'OM next year.
"I want to play at the highest European level. I wanted to do that with
l'OM, which is a club that makes me dream, but, today, Marseille can't
offer any sporting guarantees to any player in the short or long term.
"I will take my responsibilities but l'OM know they could earn a lot of
money thanks to my transfer.
"I didn't cost anything so that would be a very good financial operation.
"Too many things have changed at l'OM. The departure of the coach has
shocked me."
Marseille have no intention of selling to Ligue 1 rivals Lyon, who have
dominated domestically in the 2000s, but the 23-year-old seems determined
to head for Stade Gerland.
