Manchester United legend George Best is back in intensive care at London's Cromwell Hospital with a "severe infection." The 59-year-old's doctor, Professor Roger Williams, said on Friday morning: "He's on dialysis and he is very poorly at the moment." Professor Williams admitted that the medical team treating Best were disturbed by the sudden setback after his condition had appeared to improve in the last two weeks. "He was improving every day until yesterday afternoon and he was really pretty good," said Professor Williams. "He is conscious and just about talking. "It is a big setback after some steady progress over the last two weeks. He is eating and was making good progress but we are all very disturbed at a sudden setback like this." Best was in intensive care throughout October with a chest infection and internal bleeding. Medical staff are hoping the new problem will respond to antibiotics, but as yet they are not sure exactly where the infection is. Best is arguably the most talented British footballer of all time. The former Northern Ireland winger made his professional debut for United in 1963, at the age of 17, and helped the club become the first English side to lift the European Cup in 1968. He was voted English and European Footballer of the Year that season. Report by Ben Hibbs. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 203.72.38.144
