Smith's My New Keano

Alex Ferguson believes Alan Smith can become his new Roy Keane. Manchester
United boss Fergie has been using Smith in Keane’s midfield holding role
during pre-season friendlies. Keane, 34 next month, has a hamstring injury
and may retire after the World Cup next summer. Ferguson has tried and failed
to groom a number of players to take over from his skipper. Now Smith has
stepped forward, or back from being a striker, and could even be a future
captain. Ferguson said: “Alan has a lot of potential and he is still only 24.
But in time he could become a replacement for Roy. We keep talking about
needing to find someone, but you are not going to get another Roy Keane. Alan
is a different type of character, but it’s something we are looking at.”
Smith himself is quite happy to take on a midfield role, having done so at
times with Leeds. He said: “I’ve proved I can play in both positions. I've
shown that whoever I play for, whether it's England, Leeds or Manchester
United.” Smith would be a popular choice as captain with the United fans,
who have taken to him since his controversial switch from Elland Road. His
all-action style immediately won them over.

但是讓Alan來試試這個位置的確是不錯的嘗試啦
他的拼勁、傳球能力、護球能力都讓他有踢這個位置的本錢
唯獨在傳球視野和搶斷技巧上,可能還需要更加精進才行~~~
既然手頭沒啥錢
而前鋒位置又過於爆滿...
這樣的嘗試雖然有風險...卻值得一試!!
