SIR Alex Ferguson admits improving Manchester United in the transfer
market has not been an easy task.
The Reds boss has spent ￡6m during this close season on Edwin van der Sar
and Park Ji-sung but hasn't dipped into the Glazer bank account to fund a
huge hit.
Ferguson says that he's content with his senior squad, stating that only
an experienced addition would strengthen his pool.
With Lyon midfielder Michael Essien set to slip from United's grasp it
would appear that Bayern Munich's Michael Ballack is the only contender
who currently fits Fergie's identi-kit picture.
"It is a good, strong squad and I am happy with it," he said.
"There is good youth in it and ample experience and so therefore we
should do well.
"In the last two or three years we have introduced some young players
to the club and that age bracket of younger players is very, very good.
"You have Alan Smith at 24, Park Ji-sung is 24 and you have Wayne Rooney,
Cristiano Ronaldo, Darren Fletcher and John O'Shea, who are all very young
players.
"Then you have young Kieran Richardson. who is back after a fantastic spell
at West Brom.
"There is a great nucleus of young players at the club. When you are
identifying new players you are really talking about someone with
experience to improve us.
"There is always the question of identification first of all. We have
to look at what we need. Identifying that player is not easy."

森表示，通過轉會市場加強陣容已經變得很困難，他將把注意力放在現有陣容上。
引進范德薩和樸智星，曼聯花了600萬英鎊，弗格森也許認為這還不夠，但俱樂部的
動盪卻降低了球隊的購買力。現在弗格森只有寄希望於隊內的年輕人身上，盼著他們能夠
盡快開掘出自己的潛力。
「現在的陣容很不錯，很強大，我很滿意，」弗格森說，「隊裡有很多出色的年輕人
，以及有經驗的老將，我們應該能踢出好成績。」
「在過去的2、3年裡，我們引進了一些年輕人，這些球員的年齡結構非常不錯，他們
將逐漸開始顯現出上升和實力來。」
「比如說阿蘭-史密斯，24歲，樸智星24歲，我們還有魯尼、克裡斯蒂亞諾-羅納爾多
、弗萊切爾和奧謝，他們都是非常年輕的新人。還有理查森，他在西布朗度過了一個成功
的賽季。」
切爾西上個賽季的成功，很大程度上在於隊內的重要球員特裡、蘭帕德、喬-科爾等
都處在上升期，他們形成的合力產生了強大的戰鬥力，弗格森現在希望，隊內的年輕人也
能表現出明顯的上升趨勢，這樣曼聯才能有足夠的競爭力，來和藍軍以及槍手展開爭奪。
