Players 'Better Prepared' This Season - Pallister
United should be far better prepared to challenge for Premiership honours
in the new season with a less hectic pre-season schedule in place.
The absence of a summer international tournament and with the players back
in training early, former Reds defender Gary Pallister has high hopes going
into the 2005/06 season.
"The start of last season was very difficult for the club," Pallister
told MUTV. "I don't think the team every truly recovered from that.
For United's opening league game against Chelsea, a plethora of players
were missing. Van Nistelrooy (hernia), Ferdinand, Fletcher (both suspended),
Ronaldo, Heinze (international duty) were all absent.
Roy Keane filled in at the back, Giggs deputised up front and John O'Shea
did a job in midfield alongside Eric Djemba-Djemba and Liam Miller.
Wayne Rooney had not yet signed and United were coming off the back of
a hectic pre-season schedule.
"They have had far better preparation this time around," Pallister adds.
"They've had an extra weeks' training with the manager having taken them
away to Portugal."
United travelled to Vale do Lobo in Portugal with their families to begin
training and as a team-building exercise. They then returned to Carrington
on Monday 4 July to begin full pre-season training.
"Some of the lads will find that hard because they've not had much of a
rest," said Pallister. "The internationals in the squad have all been away.
"But it will be better than last year. The likes of Ronaldo and Heinze,
who turned out to be such an important player, being away made things
very difficult."

隨著季前訓練計劃的出台，儘管訓練強度較小，但是曼聯隊應該為下賽季重新奪回聯
賽錦標而更加努力。
由於曼聯隊今年夏天沒有過多的國際比賽任務，隊員重新集中訓練時間較往年也大為
提前，這種情況下，前曼聯後衛加裡·帕裡斯特對紅魔05/06賽季充滿希望。
帕裡斯特在接受曼聯電視台採訪的時候表示：「上賽季開始時對曼聯隊相當不利。我
認為球隊還遠沒有從出師不利的打擊中恢復過來。」
上賽季聯賽曼聯首戰切爾西，很多重要球員都因為各種原因錯過了那場比賽——范尼

帕裡斯特表示：「這次他們的季前訓練準備相當充分，弗格森爵士帶領小伙子們到葡
萄牙的訓練基地進行了為期一周的額外訓練。」
曼聯球員首先攜家屬到葡萄牙基地開始季前訓練，這也是球隊磨合的大好時機。隨後
，他們於7月4日返回英國卡靈頓開始全面備戰新賽季。
帕裡斯特表示：「由於沒有得到充分休整，一些球員可能會難以適應這樣高強度的訓
練安排。球隊中的許多國家隊成員一直馬不停蹄的參賽。但是情況顯然好於去年。比如小
小羅和海因策這樣對球隊極其重要的球員一旦缺陣將給球隊帶來巨大影響。」
