Fulham boss Chris Coleman is far from surprised at the sensational start
Edwin van der Sar has made to his United career.
The Dutch keeper faces Coleman's Cottagers on Saturday on the back of
some superb performances since moving to Old Trafford this summer.
While many have been surprised by Edwin's influence,
Coleman hasn't even batted an eyelid.
He told the Manchester Evening News: “Edwin has such a great temperament
he was always going to succeed at Old Trafford.
He’s fitted in well at Manchester United and I’m not surprised
he’s doing so well there.
"He’s only 34 as well, so Sir Alex will get another couple of years
out of him yet."
Van der Sar joined the Cottagers for ￡5million in 2001 and proved
to be money well spent as one of Fulham's most reliable performers.
Coleman admitted: "Edwin was a great signing. He cost us money but
did the business. If we’d had the same value from our other
big-money signings that we had from Edwin,
we’d have been a top-six side year-in year-out."
While French striker Louis Saha was jeered upon his first return
to Fulham with United, Coleman insists that van der Sar is guaranteed
a great reception on Saturday.
He said: "Edwin was a great servant to Fulham so we wish him all the best.”
