Ruud: We're Starting To Click
Ruud van Nistelrooy feels United are building up a head of steam
after their comfortable 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
The victory, coupled with Wednesday's 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic,
puts United six points behind champions Chelsea, who face Arsenal
at Highbury on Sunday.
Van Nistelrooy told Sky: "I think we're just getting momentum.
When you win, confidence grows, we're playing with sort of the same team
now week in, week out so it's looking good at the moment."
The Dutch striker admits United still harbour hopes of
reclaiming the Premiership title from Jose Mourinho's side,
but want to focus on doing their own job first and foremost.
"We want to continue our form and the run that we're making now," he said.
"Then if we do that then who knows what happens? You never know.
It's going to be a difficult game [between Arsenal and Chelsea]
with two tough sides but we've done our job and that's the most
important thing."
United kept Villa at arm's length for the vast majority of Saturday's game,
and the ease of their victory pleased van Nistelrooy.
"I think it was a great performance today," he said. "The first half
was a great performance and we scored a goal, the second half the same really.
Villa hit the crossbar and they were sometimes dangerous but I think
we were in control of the game much of the time.
"I think we could and we had some chances. It's still a hard place
to come to and we knew at half time we had to score to make sure
and in the end that happened."
