REDS legend Paddy Crerand expects West Brom to offer greater resistance
than the last time they faced United.
The Reds knocked Bryan Robson's men out of the Carling Cup on an emotional
night just days after George Best's death.
But with the Baggies' league survival at stake, Crerand expects a tough
fight from Robson's side.
"It'll be an entirely different game to the Carling Cup clash between the
teams last month," he told United Review.
"United will have a much stronger side out for a start but West Brom are
fighting for their lives and will be desperate for points."
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is set to ring the changes for the Boxing Day
clash with West Brom at Old Trafford.
Cristiano Ronaldo is suspended but Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney,
Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Edwin van der Sar are all
expected to return after missing the midweek Carling Cup win at Birmingham.
Louis Saha could find himself on the bench despite scoring twice at
St Andrews, although with four games in eight days over the festive
period, the French striker is expected to be heavily involved.
Baggies defender Steve Watson looks like winning his battle to be fit for
the trip to Old Trafford.
But midfielder Zoltan Gera may have to delay his comeback following a
hernia operation until later in the festive programme after suffering
a slight setback in training.
