今天早上鏡報上寫的
Manchester United have all but sealed the signing of Wigan midfielder Luis
Antonio Valencia thanks to the windfall from selling Cristiano Ronaldo.
Chief executive David Gill is now willing to meet the asking price of around
￡17.5million for the Ecuadorian star just days after tabling a 'final offer'
of ￡15m-plus-extras.
The deal could now be worth as much as ￡22.7m with add ons and United boss
Sir Alex Ferguson is pushing for the move to be completed before the weekend.
Valencia, who cost ￡1m from Villarreal, is desperate to join United. He
starred in his country's thrilling win over Argentina in the World Cup on
Thursday, but friends say he is ready to end the celebrations and return
immediately.
United have yet to make Valencia a contract offer but he can expect to go
into the ￡65,000-a-week class, which will quadruple his salary at Wigan.
