MATCH PREVIEW - Defeated by Premier League title rivals Chelsea and dumped out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich, it has been a miserable week for Manchester United. - But with Chelsea in FA Cup action this weekend, United have the chance to end it in happy fashion by going top of the league with a victory at Blackburn. - The Red Devils might be glad to be away from Old Trafford, scene of this week's double-header of misery, but Blackburn at Ewood Park is a stiff challenge - Rovers have lost just once at home since the opening day of the season and have held both Chelsea and Liverpool there. - United fans' European disappointment will have been compounded by Liverpool's Europa League progress, but while the champions have suffered two potentially crucial defeats on Merseyside this season, at least manager Sir Alex Ferguson enjoyed a famous victory there on Thursday when his What A Friend won the big race at Aintree. - The horse came from behind on the home straight to snatch victory - Sir Alex will be hoping his side can do the same as the Premier League run-in comes to its climax. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head ‧ Man Utd have won their last four league and cup games against Blackburn. ‧ The Red Devils have not lost any of their last eight games (seven league, one cup) against Rovers. ‧ It is four years since Rovers' last win over United - a 4-3 victory in February 2006, when David Bentley scored a hat-trick and Rio Ferdinand was sent off. Blackburn ‧ Blackburn have only lost two league games at Ewood Park this season (to Man City and Spurs), the first of which was on the opening day. ‧ Blackburn are unbeaten at home in the league in 2010 and have won five of their last six home games. Only Chelsea have taken points away from Ewood Park in 2010. ‧ Rovers are enjoying their best unbeaten league run of the season, having gone four without defeat (W2, D2). ‧ Sam Allardyce's men have won just two of their 16 matches against top-half opposition. Man Utd ‧ Only once have United failed to win the Premier League having been top at the start of April (1997/98). ‧ Defeat to Chelsea was United's seventh league loss. No team in Premier League history has lost seven or more games in a 38-game season and won the title. ‧ They have won all six previous league matches following defeat in the division this season, scoring 19 goals and conceding only once, including a 2-0 home victory over Blackburn on 31 October having lost 2-0 at Liverpool in their previous match. ‧ Rio Ferdinand will be making his 400th Premier League appearance. He is only the fourth defender to reach that mark. ‧ Manchester United have benefited from 11 own goals in this season's Premier League. MOST RECENT MEETING Man Utd 2-0 Blackburn (31 October 2010) Man Utd scorers: Berbatov 55, Rooney 87 M.E.N Prediction: Blackburn 1-2 United - Blackburn are finishing the season strongly but United should react to Wednesday's defeat Key opponent: Paul Robinson - goalkeeper likely to be busy but is still a top performer on his day skysports.com prediction: Blackburn 0-1 Man Utd One to watch: Federico Macheda Lawro's predictions Blackburn 1-2 United This will be all about how Manchester United bounce back from their defeat to Chelsea last week and their Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich, which Rovers boss Sam Allardyce watched from the stands. Blackburn have been excellent at home this season - their record is up there with the best in the country - but theirs is a big pitch and United will play with width so I fancy that will suit Sir Alex Ferguson's side. You have to presume Wayne Rooney will sit this one out after his recent injury worries, but quite simply United cannot afford to come away from this match with anything other than three points if they are to keep their title charge going. For United to win the title, they have got to win all five of their games now and hope Chelsea slip up - and I can certainly see that happening. I'm not totally convinced by Chelsea - I know they are on a really good run and were excellent when they won at United - but they still have a tendency to drop points when they shouldn't and so if United keep winning, you never know. http://tinyurl.com/y5ojh7e http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_prem/8609064.stm http://www.skysports.com/football/match_preview/0,19764,11065_3250357,00.html http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/8609200.stm -- ★ ╔╦═╮╔╮ ╭╔╮ ╭╔╦═╮ ╔╮╔╮╭╦═╮╔╮═╮ ☆ ☆ ╠╬╦╯╠╣ ║╠╣ ║╠╣ ║ ╠╣╠╣╠╬═╣╠╣ ║ ★ ★ ╰╝╰╯╰╝═╯╰╝═╯╚╯═╯ ╰╰╯╯╰╝ ╰╰╝ ╰ ☆ SCORING MACHINE︰ Ruud van Nistelrooy ★ ╔╮═╮╭╦╦╮╭╦═╮╭╦╦╮╔╦═╮╔╮ ╔╦═╮╭╦═╭═╦╮╮ ╔╮ ╠╣ ║ ╠╣ ╚╩╦╮ ╠╣ ╠╬╣ ╠╣ ╠╬╦╯╠╣ ║ ╠╣╚═╬╣ ╰╝ ╰╰╩╩╯╰═╩╝ ╚╝ ╚╩═╯╰╩═╯╰╝╰╯╰╩═╯═╩╯╰═╩╝ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 114.38.51.197
