一份新的合同。
2004年在利茲降級後，史密斯與曼聯簽署了一份為期5年的合同。而在2006年2月他
的腿斷了之後，他一直在努力恢復。這個賽季的中途曾經傳出弗格森想要把他租借出去
，但不服輸的英國人最終還是選擇了繼續留在曼聯證明自己。
本週五，他在英格蘭和巴西的友誼賽中代表英格蘭隊出場。這被他看作是一個新的
起點。而目前他的目標是和曼聯簽署一份新的合同，並且在弗格森的陣容中贏得首發的
位置。
「我正在和曼聯商討我的新合同。而且，現在我的狀態很好，我已經準備好了為我
的未來而努力奮鬥了。」本週日他對媒體表示。「我非常想繼續留在老特拉福德。我的

Tottenham, Newcastle and Everton are reported to be interested in the
26-year-old striker who made 18 appearances for the Reds last season,
netting one goal, after fighting his way back from a broken leg and
dislocated ankle.

"I have a contract re-negotiation coming up," he revealed. "I was due
contract talks last year and we decided, the club and myself, that I
wouldn't do that when I was injured, because it wasn't fair on them.
"But now I am fit and ready to commit my future. My agent has spoken
with the club and the talks should happen in the next few weeks. I want
to stay at United."
