BIG-MATCH FACTS
* Manchester United are vying for a fourth straight win in league and
cup to stay ahead of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table.
* Reading are battling to avoid a fourth successive league defeat to
maintain their two point cushion ahead of the relegation zone.
* United are equal on points with Arsenal but have a superior goal
difference of seven, helped by their 6-0 hammering of Newcastle
last Saturday; they have won 10 more matches than Reading and lost
nine fewer.
* This match pits the joint weakest defence in the highest league with
the sharpest attack. Reading have shipped 47 goals (30 more than the
Red Devils); United have scored 44 (14 more than the Royals).
* United have scored two goals per Premier League game on average; and
conceded one every two matches.
* The Red Devils are the Premier League's most dangerous club in the
last 10 minutes when 11 goals have been scored; the Royals are the
most vulnerable then, with 11 goals conceded in that closing period.
* Reading have never beaten Manchester United in a league match, but
they did hold them to a goalless draw on the opening day of the season
- the only side to return with a point from Old Trafford this season.
CLUB FORM
1. Won the last three in all competitions with an aggregate of 9-0;
lost one of 11.
2. Won seven of the last eight league games.
3. Failed to win their first three Premier League matches, but lost only
two of the subsequent 19.
4. Won 73% of their Premier League programme; 16 of 22 - that's more than
any other club.
5. Drawn just three league games; only Everton have finished level on so
few occasions in the highest league.
6. Scored one goal every 45 minutes of football played on average (44 in 22)
and conceded fewer goals than any other club; just 11 at one every 180
minutes (three hours).
7. Opened the scoring in more Premier League matches than any other club
(18), conceded the first goal in fewer (three) and kept the highest
number of clean sheets (13).
8. Awarded more penalties in this Premier League season that any other club,
with the exception of Tottenham (six each), of which four have been
converted. One of two clubs yet to concede a spot kick; the other is
Newcastle.
9. Lost their last league game on the road; 2-1 against West Ham on 29
December.
10. Home to Tottenham in the fourth round of the FA Cup after this, before
league fixtures, home to Portsmouth, away to Spurs, and home to City
in the Manchester derby.
