Wigan midfielder Kevin Kilbane has been told to rest after struggling for
weeks with a back problem so he misses out.
Defenders Mario Melchiot and Erik Edman remain sidelined as Wigan attempt
to their opponents the league title.
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney (hip) is unlikely to start but could
make the substitutes' bench.
Nemanja Vidic has been cleared to play by United's medical team and will
feature should he come through the remaining training sessions unscathed.

BIG-MATCH FACTS
* Victory over Wigan at the JJB Stadium will land Manchester United a
record 10th Premier League title.
* Only failure to beat Wigan will see Sir Alex Ferguson's club miss out on
being crowned champions of England for a 17th time, if it is accompanied
by a better result for Chelsea, home to Bolton.
* Minimum prize money of £50 million awaits the Red Devils, if they retain
their crown. It will be the fifth time they had achieved back-to-back
titles ince the Premier League came into being.
* Wigan manager Steve Bruce spent nine very successful seasons on the playing
staff at Old Trafford. He made 418 appearances and scored 52 goals for
Manchester United, between 1987 and 1996, winning three Premier League
titles, three FA Cups, one League Cup and one Cup Winners' Cup.
* In over 21 years in charge of Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson has won
nine Premier League titles, five FA Cups, two League Cups, the Champions
League, the European Cup Winners' Cup, the European Super Cup, the
Inter-Continental Cup and the FA Charity/Community Shield six times,
and been joint holders once.
* If he takes to the field, Ryan Giggs will equal Bobby Charlton's
recently-adjusted club record of 758 appearances. The 34 year old Wales
international could then break that record in the Champions League final
against Chelsea in Moscow, on Wednesday 21 May.
* United lost their last Premier League fixture of last season (to West Ham),
but have won 10 of their 15 last-day games in this league.
* Wigan could finish as high as 12th, or as low as 15th - a difference of
£2.88 million in merit payments.
* Bruce, who shares the same birthday as his old mentor (31 December) but
is 19 years the younger, has guided Wigan to safety from one off the foot
of the table when he began his second spell in charge on 20 November.
* The Latics have never beaten a 'Big Four' club.
* Wigan are the only club of those currently in the Premier League not to
have taken one point off Manchester United.
CLUB FORM
* Highest achievable: 1st (Merit payment: £14.44 million)
Lowest could fall: 2nd (£13.68m)
1. Bidding for their first Premier League and Champions League double since
1998-99.
2. Lost one of the last 13 in all competitions. The 2-1 defeat, away to
Chelsea on 26 April, is their only loss in 11 league games.
3. Secured 26 victories, scored 78 goals, at one every 43 minutes on average,
and conceded 22, at one every 151 minutes (two hours 31 minutes); the best
in all three categories.
4. Victory would give them a maximum of 87 points - their third highest in a
38-game Premier League.
5. Kept 20 clean sheets; only Chelsea beat that with 21. Also, dropped the
same number of points as the Blues (27), which is fewer than any other
clubs.
6. Opened the scoring in an unmatched 28 games (won 24, and lost just one of
them); and allowed the opposition to score first in eight matches - that's
fewer occasions than any other club.
7. Scored 17 goals in the last 10 minutes; more than any other club.
8. On the longest current run since a goalless draw of 36 matches; and the
longest since failing to score of 23 matches.
9. Not won in four away from home in all competitions, since the 0-2 triumph
over AS Roma in Italy in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final
on 1 April.
10. Hoping to add Wigan to Everton, Sunderland, Birmingham, Newcastle,
Fulham, Derby, Liverpool, and Aston Villa as those they've done the
double over this season.
KEY PLAYER NOTES
* Cristiano RONALDO is Manchester United's top scorer with 40 goals.
* The Portuguese is also United's leading Premier League marksman with 30.
He is one of only five different players to score 30 or more goals in a
Premier League season, and is set to lift the Barclays Golden Boot, being
seven ahead of the next highest scoring player, Fernando TORRES of
Liverpool.
* RONALDO needs two hat-tricks to equal Denis LAW's club record 46 goals in
the 1963-64 season, and is four goals shy of Ruud VAN NISTELROOY's 44-goal
haul in 2002-03.
* Between them, RONALDO, Carlos TEVEZ and Wayne ROONEY have scored 77 of
Manchester United's 107 goals this season in all competitions, and 56 of
their 78 (72%) in the Premier League.
* If selected:
- Michael CARRICK will be making his 100th appearance for Manchester United.
- Mikael SILVESTRE will be making his 250th Premier League appearance for
Manchester United.
* If on the field from the outset:
- Long term injury, Gary NEVILLE will be making his 350th Premier League
start for Manchester United.
- Chris EAGLES will be making his 50th club league start
(Manchester United, Watford and Sheffield Wednesday).
* Suspended:
- Luis NANI (three matches)
HEAD TO HEAD
* Manchester United have a 100% record over Wigan, winning all five Premier
League meetings with an aggregate of 16-3.
* United have recorded three 4-0 victories over Wigan; in the Premier League
on 14 December 2005, and 6 October 2007 and in the Carling Cup final on 26
February 2006.
